From Jerry Edwards : The last of the four seasons shorts and my personal favorite of the four. Despite the cold wind and snow, woodland animals come out from their shelters to dance and skate on the ice until a winter storm causes them to scamper back to their homes. Very well animated for 1930 - especially the scene of the wolf howling in the snowy woods. There are several gags and scenes I enjoy - the reindeer performing a synchronized skating routine on the ice and a moose using his antlers as paddles to help him swim. The groundhog scene is nicely done. The animals all gather around the groundhog's den to see if he sees his shadow. At first, the dark skies keeps any shadow away, but then the sun shines through the clouds - causing the groundhog to be frightened by his shadow. The animals then scatter for shelter as a fierce winter storm begins.
