Comments

From Ryan : Although parts of this short can be funny, I don't care for the ending where Donald is stranded in the ocean being passed around by the sharks and the bee is watching this and laughing at him.
From Isidro : While the animation of this short is top notch and it has gorgeous backgrounds, the story just won't do it for me. The ending, with Donald desperately trying to survive the sharks is too sadistic for my liking, and I can't see why the Disney storytellers considered it funny.
From Bryan Hensley : This short is in volume 2 of Disney's Classic Cartoon Favorites collection (which starred Donald). But for some strange reason, this short was cut in places on this disc! Not only was it unrestored at the time, but they took out most of the opening credits, as well as most of Donald's theme song. It never shows how Donald and Spike the bee got to the beach in the first place. It started with Donald pounding his chest and he shouted "Whoopee!" When the short ended, there were no end credits at all! It's a good thing most of the toons in all 5 hour-long disc collections from Disney were uncut; this one is an exception! But this is still an enjoyable short to me. Don't go too far out into the ocean, or sharks will try to eat you! Just like what happened to Donald and his "super duper raft". If Disney plans to put this short in another classic shorts collection, such as Disney's Animation Collection, I hope it's an uncut version! I hope you enjoy this short, whether it's been cut on home video or not!
