From Graham Hackett : This is actually a neat short for being chip and Dale's last film appearance. This short has lots of fun gags and fast pace humour, what I also like about this short is the idea of Chip being a Sailboat captain and Dale being the sailor.

From Ryan : While this short is not necessarily bad, it isn't necessarily good either. I do not care much for Chip and Dale. I did enjoy some of the gags such as the scene where Donald fools the two chipmunks into thinking there is a storm.

From Baruch Weiss : Cute. Just plain

From Candy : I think that this cartoon is actually one of the better Chip and Dale cartoons. I always liked the way they were drawn. It reminded me of the oh-so-cute way that Thumper and the other animals in Bambi were drawn. The animation on this cartoon, is, of course, excellent. The color is particularly crisp and bright. Also, this cartoon inspired one of the Disney storybooks, a Little Golden Book called "Donald's Sailboat."

There were some good gags in this one, too. Donald had made the boat in a bottle, and somehow Chip and Dale got it out of the bottle without breaking either the boat or the bottle. I've always wondered how people made boats in a bottle like that. It must have been a popular hobby at the time. I also liked the gag where Dale tries to run over the water and Chip hits him in the head and says something like, "Wait a minute, stupid. That's water. Don't you know you can't walk on water?" It seems like Chip was always hitting Dale and telling him that he was stupid or something. I guess that was inspired by the fact that real chipmunks and squirrels seem to get into fights with each other. Another gag I liked was when Donald blows cigar smoke into the boat so that they think they're in a storm. And Donald tosses the boat around like they're on tossing waves, and Dale gets seasick and leans over the boat like he's going to throw up. I thought that that was a funny scene and that it was interesting. It didn't show him throwing up - the cartoons never showed things like that back then - but it suggested that he was throwing up. I think that the cartoons and films were better back in the days when they had strict censorship. They couldn't show everything to you in gruesome, graphic detail. Things that were only hinted at or suggested were more effective and interesting precisely because they didn't show you everything. They left much of it up to your imagination.

From Tom Kelly : My favorite - for some reason this is the one that I remember the most from my childhood. I was disappointed it was not included on the DVD. The Disney channel is doing a disservice to today's kids by not showing some of these. I did catch some on WGN about a year and ago and have not seen them since.
