Comments

From Juan F. Lara : The guests were better used in this episode than usual. One memorable scene featured characters from "Snow White", "Aladdin", and "Robin Hood"... BIZARRE use of Prince John in this scene! :-) Among other obscure characters I was hoping to see "Black Cauldron" cast members. So I laughed at the Horned King's appearance. I was also impressed that they gave a prominent appearance for Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom. They had one of the more inspired acts we've seen so far. I also liked Goofy's production number. Donald's theme song is not really that well known. So I loved hearing it again. Goofy's version of it I guess was a reference to his role in "An Extremely Goofy Movie." None of these scenes ( except maybe the last one ) had anything to do with the plot, though. The plot was weak. The reason Mickey had for not firing Goofy were cloying, and made Mickey come off as annoyingly goody-goody. Mickey was especially annoying in the scene where he saved Goofy's job, by quitting. I wondered if someone meant this episode to have some message about being a loyal friend. Goofy seemed out of character when he blew his stack near the ending. The budget problem wound up resolved with a copout.

From Lee Suggs : This is an extremely clever episode! We start with a corny joke involving two "underdrawn" (pencil test) characters and we never stop. There are fun cameos with the Horned King, Pinocchio, and a great bit with Abu falling prey to the Wicked Queen's apple. The two musical numbers are a great tribute to Disney's history. First Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom perform as the first "rock" (or is that stone) band. Then Goofy does a disco version of Donald's original theme song. (This is to thank Donald for picking him to be the HOM's host, when in reality Donald was trying to fire him.) Try to record this show if it is re-broadcast. There are so many sight gags that you'll miss half of them if you don't watch the show more than once.

This episode ends with a great ad for "Mathmagic Accounting" which can be found on "square root two" by following the "sines and co-sines". I hope lots of people are watching this series. I want it to be on for a LOOOOONG time.
