A Silly Symphony
-
Released in 16mm under the title "The Little Elves."
-
Contains an interesting experiment in surrealism (the dwarfs get drunk) which
prefigures a similar scene in the feature film "Dumbo".
-
From Jerry Edwards : Bearded, small "insect-size"
men with pointed hats do a very long dance routine - not very interesting
after the first few seconds. Some of the movements are very similar to the
skeletons in The Skeleton Dance. I enjoyed the gag of a "blacksmith" putting
"horse" shoes on a grasshopper. Some fun ideas but the dance routines just
go on, and on, and on ...
-
From Steven : If Max Fleischer made a Disney cartoon,it would have probably been like this. This has to be the most surreal Disney cartoon ever. This cartoon has its moments, but it's a bit boring. I give it a 6 out of 10.
