Released as part of the feature film "Saludos

From Jerry Edwards : One of the four shorts
that comprise the short film Saludos Amigos. Pedro, a "child" airplane, is
first shown drinking gasoline out of a nipple at the end of a gas pump hose.
One day, when his dad is laid up with a terrible cold, it is up to Pedro
to fly the mail over the treacherous Andes mountains. After several harrowing
adventures, including running out of fuel, Pedro arrives home safely - to
the delight of his worried mother and father. The mail pouch contains one
mail item - a postcard that says (in Spanish), "Having a wonderful time,
wish you were here." The narrator quips, "Well, the mail might have
been important!"
The person whose name appeared on the address of the postcard was quite surprised
to see his name - Jorge Delano - he was Walt Disney's interpreter and guide,
and this was Walt's tribute to him.
This short is fun, but is not among my favorites.
-
From Baruch Weiss : This is a good cartoon. It's the story of a baby airplane who is given a mission to deliver a sack of mail because his mom and dad have problems and can't make it, similar to the 1947 short "Mail Dog".
-
From Billy Joe : This is a known and worthy short. It is nicely done in my opinion. I wish I had more to say about it, but it's just a good Disney cartoon
