From Robby Brawn : The combination of animation
and the live action of Ethel Smith doing her tricks on the organ, could well
have been something created by much more sophisticated technology. Ethel's
unique style is perfect for this sequence. I've watched it more times than
I could count and am still amazed!
-
From Eric Hernandez : Wow. Ever since seein
the Three Caballeros I really wanted to see this short seeing as how it had
Jose Carioca and Donald together again. And I finally got the chance to see
it,and I really liked it.
The Aracuan Bird is one wacky cool character. He gets Donald and Jose out
of the blues, and dancing to the various beats of the samba. He ends up mixing
a cocktail that includes them, and then the live action starts with Ethel
Smith playing the organ. This would've been a perfect short to include in
the Three Caballeros or Saludos Amigos. The whole short is a mix of wackiness
and psychadelia.
-
From Grace : This is my another favorite " Melody Time" cartoons. It really makes me wanna dance and feel happy whenever I feel sad and blue. By watching it the music really makes you wanna get out of the couch and dance, Ethel Smith is really pretty and talented, The Dinning Sisters are perfect for the song and it's just great. I highly recommend it. Watch it and enjoy the passion of the samba!
-
From Baruch Weiss : This is also another great short. The music is very lively!
-
From Disney Fan : I have to admit, this is very surreal at parts, but it's really cool. The bright colors and lively music make me feel happy whenever I see it. I had always wondered how the live action and animation were put together before computers, and I don't want to know. It spoils the "magic" of it all. I think that it was the best part of Melody Time.
