Comments

From Baruch Weiss : My personal favorite segment from 'Melody Time' is this one. Like the 1944 classic "Springtime for Pluto" (which suprisingly didn't win an Acadamy  Award) it had great music, background art, and animation.

From Honora : This is such a beautiful short. There used to be a wonderful show on the Disney Channel late late at night called the "Ink and Paint Club" - before it was loaded with the contemporary trash it's packed with now. "Trees" was shown from time to time and was an example of animation as art at its finest. Amazing color, depth, artwork, no sound other than music (maybe bird chirps). I loved this, we all did. My children and I really miss the Ink & Paint Club.

"Trees"
By Alfred Joyce Kilmer

For Mrs. Henry Mills Alden

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
