Released along with the theatrical feature "Three Ninjas."

From JPox : I enjoyed this Bonkers D Bobcat short. Unfortunately I never saw it theatrically, only on the Bonkers television show. Even so, the cartoon is hilarious. I wonder if the short was produced in widescreen for theatres? Wonder if it will ever be released on DVD? I've come to realize that Bonkers is Disney's answer to Roger Rabbit. Since another company owns the rights to Roger, Disney could never have a series based on the rabbit. Bonkers has a unique history at Disney. His first appearance is in "Petal to the Metal". A funny, slapstick cartoon character, refreshing for a Disney cartoon. Then his apperance on "Raw Toonage" which was a half hour program mixed together with other shorts. His own show would premire shortly after with the first episode showing a scene from "Petal to the Metal" with Bonkers "filming" the cartoon. The first season of the s! how gave Bonkers a new design that was slightly different from "Petal" & "Toonage". When Bonker's first partner, Lucky, leaves the series, Bonkers is paired up with another named Miranda. Bonkers' design reverts to the original design (featured in "Petal" and "Toonage") all of a sudden, giving the sense that the "Miranda" series was the first episodes to be produced before "Lucky" was created. This has never been confirmed, but I wonder if that is what really happened?
