From Juan F. Lara : I immediately noticed
that the nephews looked like their versions from the classic shorts rather
than their "Duck Tales" version, with longer limbs, longer necks and smaller
heads. They looked brattier than they did on "Duck Tales", which fit this
short very well.
The short's gags came from how Donald and the nephews were willing to be
really mean to each other, making the short's central conflict racier than
those from other "MouseWorks" shorts. Donald's stunt with the height sign
seemed like the rotten thing he'd do in the old shorts just for the heck
of it. The buildup from Donald turning up the ride's speed gave me a big
rush, especially with Donald turning into the Devil in this scene. And I
loved the mean trick the kids pulled on Donald at the end. I didn't think
BSandP let through possum-playing gags, and the kids' poses looked really
nasty.
The short had a couple of weak moments, though. After the big buildup, the
gags the nephews do in the flying rocket felt anticlimactic. Similarly, the
kids' first tries at getting past Donald were just silly. As for the "in
drag" scene, the punchline shocked me as much as everyone else, but the setup
was contrived: Someone really needs to see a doctor about a backbrace.
From Jon Cooke : Donald's Rocket Ruckus is
one of the best short from MouseWorks so far. The background music was really
catchy and the gags were funny. In addition to that, Huey, Dewey, and Louie
were back to their old selves again.
From Kyle Toles : I really liked this cartoon.
It was good to see Huey,Dewey and Louie tormenting Donald. Huey Dewey and
Louie all see this advertisement and they are excited. They come up to the
rise and Donald won't let them get buy. They come up with a whole bunce of
disguises, they don't work. Donald sees a woman who is tall and has trouble
staying on balance he thinks it his nephews he rips he clothes off!!! She
Punches him and he ends up in the taffy machine. Donald hears all these tools
at work. Then the nephews pull him in to the ground. they finnaly get on
then donald using the control panel makes them go really fast they get off
the hinges. Donald tries to catch them. they finnaly come to a stop at a
hot dog stand. Donald is knocked out. Huey Dewey and Louie see ketchup and
use it as blood. Donald wakes up and sees them covered in ketchup which he
thinks is blood. he cry's his eyes out and says he'd give anything to hear
their voice again. They stun him by asking him to go on the ride again. He
chases them out of the Park.
From Thad Komorowski : One of the best 'modern'
Disney shorts. Very remiscent of the old Donald vs. Huey, Duey, and Louie
cartoons, I'm sure it would make Jack King and Jack Hannah proud.
