Comments
-
From Patrick Malone : Or, "The Revenge of
Bumble Boogie." We saw this one coming a mile away. What a surprise it was
when an actual bee began invading the orchestra! (yawn) Been there, done
that, got the t-shirt, and with better, funnier results in both the previously
mentioned "Bumble Boogie" and "The Band Concert."
-
From J. D. Weil : Can this be called a "B"
picture? This time Minnie's orchestra is invaded by a real bee instead of
being bothered by a rebellious instrument. It does recall "Bumble Boogie"
to mind, but I kinda wished they used the original orchestrations (the piece
is certainly short enough) instead of trying to hoke them up. I found it
quite distracting.
-
From Juan F. Lara : Why this selection? Disney
has already done a well known short called "Bumble Boogie" based on the
Rimsky-Korsakov work. That classic short had its own shortcomings, but this
"Maestro Minnie" short had no new ideas for the selection. The bee flew around,
annoyed the instruments, and that was it.
-
From David Gonterman : I'll be judging all
the other episodes with this one as the benchmark. Minnie was just as animated
as she was competent as a conductor, even with a stray bumblebee playing
with her bow. Playing with her bow, no wonder Minnie was ticked near the
end.
-
From Lee Suggs : Well, like I said I do like
seeing Minnie is action. However, these "Maestro Minnie" shorts are just
not making it. Maybe its because everytime I see these shorts I start thinking
of Mickey in "The Band Concert". This was such a wonderful short, and it
used music so much more effectively. The "Maestro Minnie" shorts just don't
flow like that. So they always suffer by comparison.
I have seen "Maestro Minnie : Flight of the Bumblebee" and would like to
submit a comment on this short
