From Patrick Malone : A pretty standard plot;
Goofy gets a new kitten who gets switched with a much bigger one. It was
nice to see Louie back. (I'm calling this as a sighting of Louie the Mountain
Lion; the physical nature and facial expressions pretty well match up.) This
one could have almost been called "How to be a Cat" as Goofy tries to show
his new "kitten" how to go about being a cat. Including using the litter
box; a pretty funny bit, but one I'm not sure Disney himself would have let
the artists get away with.
Nothing special here, but not a complete throwaway. Just a nice entertaining
seven minutes.

From J. D. Weil : Mr Pettibone is the name
of Goofy's new pet kitten who is suddenly replaced by a runaway puma from
Pete's circus (I womder if this the same puma from "Lion Down"). Unfortunatly,
this short doesn't work as well as it should. The timing is way off, the
animation makes the characters move in fits and starts, as though afflicted
with a case of the blind staggers, and the ending just isn't convincing.
-
From Davey-kins : I can hear Uncle Walt now:
OH [Insert Deity Name Here] NOOOOOOOOO! I'm sorry, but seeing Goofy on the
catbox is NOT what I'd like to see while eating my cereal. I'll pick up the
Pitchforks, while you get the torches. We're storming Cinderella's Castle
for this short. Tonight!

From Lee Suggs : This short has a very funny
premise, and does a great job switching the real kitty with a mountain lion.
After that it pretty much bogs down, and goes for cheap laughs by putting
Goofy in a litter box. The short's ending was good too, but the rest of the
short was very muddled.
I have seen "Goofy's Big Kitty" and would like to
submit a comment on this short
