Comments

From Patrick Malone : Shades of "Runaway Brain!" And yes, their motto turned out to be "We donate organs!" God, sometimes I hate it when I'm right.

But this short is quite a bit darker than any standard "Mickey" short since "The Mad Doctor"; maybe a little sense of "Edward Scissorhands" here. There's a nice little musical number as they travel to the mad scientist's laboratory. After that, Doanld and Goofy aren't really given much to do as they try to escape. And once again, the short doesn't feel like it really has an ending to it.

From J. D. Weil : This one is a strange blend of "Lonesome Ghosts" and "The Mad Doctor" with a bit of "Toy Tinkers" thrown in for good measure. The boys try to deliver a pipe organ when they find out it's the other kind that's desired. (Living ones). Good interaction between the characters.

From Tom : "We donate organs!". That's a rather revolting thought. Actauly this footage might have made a good way to introdce "The Mad Doctor" in one of those compilation specials on "The wonderful world of Disney". But on it's on it fell kid of flat. Rating: C-

From Lefty Lovitz : Isn't it weird how the MW shorts I like end up being disliked by everyone else and vice versa? Anyway, I do like this one a lot! I like it better than the other two (the other two M, D, &, G shorts). And is it just me or is Tony Anselmo getting better at voicing Donald? I mean, he's no Clarence Nash (whom I still dearly miss) but he's still pretty good! Anyway, I also liked that music as they were travelling, and if you taped the show, watch Donald the second time he pulls the covers away from Goofy! I liked the chase scene, I liked pretty much everything except the non-ending.

From Juan F. Lara : Speaking of contrived setups for a joke...Maybe they sell organs, or they distribute donated organs, but "We DONATE organs"??

This was just a chase short. The creators filled the scenes with those big grotesque toys. But those toys were there only to make the settings look bizarre. The Dr. Frankandollie-like mad scientist had a similarly bizarre character design. And all he did was scream a lot, with only a brief moment given to show what his motivation was. The short would've been a lot more interesting if they gave a background to this villain and spent some time on his bride. Matt Frewer's overdone voicing only made him as annoying as possible. The last straw was the short's dreadful ending. They just ended the short without any resolution.

FWIW: I thought the tune they played on the organ was cute.

From Jon Cooke : Organ Donors wasn't that great. It had it's moments, though. Some of the gags seemed straight out of Tex Avery cartoons (the folding up of the door gag). Also, watch for a blooper when Donald first points to the toy factory. His bow tie isn't colored red, it's transparent!

From Chris Jackson : I thought this cartoon was pretty cool. I loved the play on words "organ donors." Of course the scientist thought that they donated body organs when in reality they donate musical organs.

From Aaron : This cartoon was pretty lame. But I did like the music as they traveled to the Mad Doctor's house! Other than that a big dissapointment. Mostly a chase cartoon.
