From Lee Suggs : Pluto is again pursuing Dinah the Dachshund. As usual he runs smack into Butch the Bulldog. Butch launches Pluto through the roof of a Magic Shop. After Pluto gets thrown out of there, a clever gag causes him to swallow a magic wand. This gives Pluto some amazing powers every time he hiccups. Pluto then uses his new found ability to steal Dinah from Butch, and set up a romantic picnic. Unfortunately he accidently uses his power to turn Dinah into something that Butch then steals from him. All in all a very amusing short, with a good ending. Pluto may be the character most successfully animated by the "MouseWorks" staff.

From Juan F. Lara : On the other hand, I'm a big fan of Pluto's pursuit of Dinah. So I wanted to be very interested in this short. That was why I liked this short more than I should.

Pluto already used magic in the last Dinah short, "Pluto's Arrow Error". The magic used here felt like more of the same. For the sake of the plot, Pluto could control the magic that happened with his hiccups when he was romancing Dinah, but then he inexplicably lost control once he turned Dinah into a bone. The short had for its highlight a scene where the hiccups kept changing Pluto's and Butch's species during a chase. I thought that was an original idea, and cat and mouse versions of Butch and Pluto had imaginative character designs. Elsewhere though, the makers seemed to be just plagiarizing Tex Avery. Especially when they dropped stuff on Butch ( watch for the ocean liner ). Heck, the whole short seemed to me like a kype from the last scene of an Avery short, "Bad Luck Blackie".

DYN: One of the people who left the bus when the "Dogs Only" sign appeared had Goofy's outfit on. But that couldn't have been Goofy leaving. Goofy's a dog.
