Synopsis

In order to win Junior Woodchucks merit badges, Huey, dewey and Louie have to negotiate a difficult survival course. But then they discover that Donald, their scoutleader, never finished the course himself.

I'm not familiar at all with the comics where Huey, Dewey and Louie show up as members of the Junior Woodchucks, so I can't really comment on how this compares with those. Perhaps someone else can. But as far as how this one stacks up against the rest of the MMW shorts, I only have one word.

Wow.

This one was perfect and funny as hell. It started out a little slow as we're set up with an overview of the survival course, then builds up a little steam as Donald tries to sabotage the nephews' attempts to survive it. (As if the course itself weren't rough enough!) But once they discover Donald's plan and take their revenge, the short takes off like a runaway locomotive. Every single subterfuge that Donald leveled against them comes back to haunt him fast and furious; sometimes once, sometimes twice. Just when you think he's escaped one danger, another pops back at him. The gags are thrown at you so fast that you literally don't have the time to catch your breath and I was laughing out loud all the way through.

Another point that should be made is that in a complex situation like Donald found himself in, it would have been easy to just throw in things at random, but the logistics with everything that comes at him seems perfectly natural and not forced at all. I had complained about the lack of 'plausible impossibility' in the other shorts before, but nothing here seems out of place or unnatural. I can even forgive the elevator in the mountainside gag (the part inside the elevator I think was lifted from "The Blues Brothers".)

A perfectly hilarious short, which and I think may be the best we've seen yet here.

From Lee Suggs : Huey, Dewey, and Louie have been a very successful addition to "MouseWorks". All of their shorts have been good, and this one is excellent. It begins with a good premise, and then shines when it's payback time for Donald. The flow of sight gags is flawless as one terrible thing after another befalls The Duck. A truely enjoyable ride.
