From Bryan Hensley : Not only is this short on Disney/Pixar's Cars DVD and Blu-ray releases, but also in Pixar's Short Films collection on a separate disc! It takes place after the original movie. If Mater thought the Ghostlight was real in the movie, how come he didn't believe it at the beginning of this short? After Sheriff's story about the Ghostlight, Mater went home scared and ended up losing his last headlight! You should see the look on Mater's face when he drove away in fear from the "Ghostlight"; he was going all over Radiator Springs! It was Lightning McQueen and Guido who put the blue lantern on Mater's hook! Later that night, Mater was too pooped to run away anymore! Why would a ghost want to scrap a tow truck and sell its parts on an auction website? Near the end, Doc Hudson and the others told Mater there's nothing to be afraid of in town, except for Mater's imagination. (And the Screamin' Banshee.) "The Screamin' what?" In the end credits, there are drawings done by Joe Ranft about this short, (Who was Red the firetruck's voice.) but he was killed in a horrible car accident during the making of it. The Screamin' Banshee appears and Mater doesn't know it's the real thing! Mater drove off leaving the Banshee confused, thus ending this hilarious short! "Mater and The Ghostlight" was Pixar's longest short at over 7 minutes, up until the Ratatouille short "Your Friend The Rat" came the very next year. (It's a new record of 11 minutes long!) I hope you enjoy this Pixar short, even though it's only on home video and the Internet!
